Install

Download for macOS

Requires macOS 14 or later.

Open the disk image, drag Folio into Applications, then launch it and sign in from the menu bar.

    Install

    curl -fsSL https://folio.ms/install.sh | sh

    Ubuntu on amd64 or arm64. The installer pins and verifies Folio's signing key before it adds the repository.

    Set up

    folio setup

    Setup prints a short code and opens folio.ms/device in your browser so you can approve it. If no browser opens, go to folio.ms/device and enter the code. Setup then registers a systemd service so sync survives reboots, and may ask for your sudo password.

  3. 03

    Done

    Your files live in ~/Folio and stay in sync. Run folio status any time to check on it.

No systemd? Run folio setup --ephemeral instead. Sync lasts as long as that command runs.

    Add the Folio MCP server to your agent

    Works with any MCP client that supports remote servers with OAuth. It will ask you to sign in to Folio the first time.
